Texas Porcion Land Grant Cases

Forensic Genealogy Services (SM), LLC works with family members and attorneys to determine lineage to several Texas Porcion Land Grant Cases in South Texas, including but not limited to:  Vicente Longoria, Matias Longoria, Pedro Longoria, Ignacio Trevino, Joaquin Chapa, Lazaro Vela, Juan Jose Balli, Padre Island.  Our service provides quality heirship reports that are defensible in court.  The current fee is $150 per person per case.  As of 1 June 2008, the fee will increase to $175 due to rising costs of postage and supplies used in our reports.

The link to the Porcion Research Agreement is in the bar to the left. This Agreement is for clients who wish to have me complete their genealogy files for the court.

Services for individuals:
  • Provide a review and analysis of your current "packet", if necessary
  • Determine which documentation is missing
  • Provide a Research Plan, if necessary
  • Conduct or assist in continued research, if necessary
  • Prepare the master evidence file and individual files for the Court, the attorney and the client.

Services for attorneys:
  • Review and analysis of the genealogical component of your case
  • Preparation of court-quality evidence and charts
  • Expert witness testimony

Forensic Genealogy Services (SM), LLC works as an independent contractor for each client.  We may also be retained by law firms to assist in their genealogy components.  The work we do as an independent contractor to law firms will not be in conflict with the work for family member clients.  As an independent genealogical contractor, we are not part of any law firm and therefore do not participate in their decisions or policies.

For the heirships to meet court-quality standard, all generations must have at least one document connecting each generation to the next, the child to the parents; each generation must have evidence of birth, marriage and death; each document must be fully cited as to the source; and the report must be structured to the genealogical standard and court evidence standard.  These requirements go beyond the usual genealogical research and compilations of amateur family historians and researchers.  Many professional genealogists do not also have experience with the court-quality standard, reports or testimony.

When choosing a professional genealogist, please check references and qualifications. Determine if the genealogist has successful experience conducting research and preparing reports for heirship matters according to Texas laws and in Texas courts.  Will the person preparing the packet be available to you should court testimony be necessary?  Does the genealogist have credentials to qualify as an Expert Witness?

Professional experience includes two years of Forensic and Heirship work for attorneys, estates and Texas courts.  Dee Dee King is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and served as founding President of its Lone Star Chapter (2006-2007).  She is also a Certified Genealogist (SM), Board for Certification of Genealogists, BCG.
